Actor Zac Efron is mobbed by screaming fans as he arrives for a surfing lesson off Bondi beach in Australia.

The star of the High School Musical franchise was there as part of a charity event with Australian surf champions Layne Beachley and Tom Whitaker.

But all the attention meant he didn't get much surfing done.

Looks like everyone likes a bit of Zac!

A recent report at hindustantimes.com has suggested that former "High School Musical" star Zac Efron, is all set to step into the shoes of Tobey Maguire, to play the role of Spider Man in the upcoming "Spider-Man 4" movie.

34-year old Tobey left bosses at Universal Pictures and fans of the "Spider-Man" franchise in shock last year, when he announced that he was in fact quitting the franchise after starring in all of the first three blockbuster movies.

But apparently, Tobey soon came to the rescue by recommending that Zac Efron, who has also starred in the "17 Again" and "Me and Orson Welles" movies, should take over his role as the red and blue costumed comic book hero.

The reports say that the "Spider-Man" franchise's producers think that 22-year old Zac would bring new fans to the series. At the moment, we have no concrete evidence of this so we'll just take it as more rumors for now.

Zac Efron has signed on to star in a movie adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis's Fire.

The High School Musical star has taken on the role of a student who is recruited by the CIA as part of his attempts to cultivate a more mature image, reports Deadline Hollywood.

Fire was originally published as a two-issue miniseries by Caliber Comics, and later collected and reprinted by Image.

It follows the story of student Benjamin Furst, who over a series of missions begins to discover the true, sinister intent of 'Project Fire'.

Bendis and Efron's pitch was accepted by Universal last week.

Efron will receive a producer credit on the film.

Zac Efron escaped paparazzi by pretending to see Robert Pattinson.

The 21-year-old actor was jogging in Runyon Canyon, Los Angeles, recently when a group of photographers swooped on him desperate for a picture.

Keen for them not to catch him in all his sweaty glory, Zac came up with an ingenious way to divert the attention from himself.

"He suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, waved at another runner just disappearing over the hilltop and yelled, 'Hey Robert, Robert!' Laughing as the puzzled paparazzi looked at the disappearing figure, he said. 'You guys are taking pictures of me? You just missed Robert Pattinson'," a source revealed to National Enquirer magazine.

The photographers immediately started running after the distant figure, keen to catch a glimpse of the young hunk.

As soon as they approached him the group realised they had been tricked, and began moaning as they ran back to Zac.

Thrilled his plan had worked Zac jumped in his car and zoomed off, leaving the photographers furious.
